Fitness At Its Finest
My Fitness journey, like that of many others, wouldn't be complete without my having other great fitness pros to look up to and learn from. I have followed many long-time fitness guru's as I am sure many of you have. Learning from these individuls, and also growing in my own skin wouldn't be the same for me with out these folks to read about, follow on social media and even get to know better by reading through the various magazines published.
I decided I would focus my blogs on the many fitness enthusiasts out there and also on any up and coming individuals as well. There are many amazing fitness models, trainers and sponsored athletes that I have followed on social media for years and also ones I am just learning about, with that being said, I could go on blogging indefinitely just because there are so many fitness sensations.
My journey though would not be the same without one such individual. This sports model, bodybuilding.com spokesperson and now, mother of two has inspired not only myself over the years, but so many others as well. Introducing my all time favorite, Jamie Eason, now known as Jamie Eason Middleton since getting married in 2012 to husband, Michael Middleton. Jamie is a fit at 40 mother of two sweet boys. For me, she is the epitome of what a fitness role model should be, from the inside to the outside, that is fitness at its finest!
A Lil' About Her Early Years and later...
My respect and admiration for Jamie was instant, as I read about her start and how she came to know fitness. Her journey started in fitness after a breast cancer scare but not before her career as an NFL Cheerleader for the Houston Texans in 2001. Upon finding a lump in her breast, and having a lumpectomy, she ended up working as a corporate trainer, a more sedentary career. Sometime later, Jamie had another scare, when suspicious cells returned, that is when she took her health into her own hands by hiring a nutritionist and personal trainer. Once Jamie pursued fitness by also joining a local gym, she never looked back. In doing so, Jamie competed and obtained her pro card after her very first fitness competition in 2006 at the Olympia. If that's not inspiring enough, this amazing role model has appeared on the cover of numerous magazines like Oxygen, Fitness Magazine, and Austin Fit to name a few.
My desire upon following her, has always been to have arms like Jamie! She prefers hitting the weight room over cardio and I can see why. Her physique has always shown a feminine yet strong and fit form. She represents the fitness lifestyle in such a way that even the women who shy away from the weight room for fear that they will look masculine and obtain "huge bulky muscles" realize lifting heavy weights will change their body into a lean fat burning machine, and that a little muscle looks amazing on a woman.
She also now has a supplement line with Labrada Nutrition through Lean Body for Her, called the Jamie Eason Signature Line. This line includes whey protein, multi-vitamins and even probiotics to aid in digestion. I also learned that Jamie now blogs for The Balancing Act on Lifetime TV. She also writes articles for Fitness RX, along with other national magazines. Jamie's career as you can see, includes many routes down the fitness pipeline helping others to get fit, and maintain a healthy lifestyle - not just by looking good and feeling good, but actually what it means to be healthy!
Giving Back
What also inspires me about Jamie is that she aspires to put God and family first! She doesn't just talk the talk, she literally walks the walk. She has given back to her community by doing a run for breast cancer awareness along with Bodybuilding.com for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, "designed to promote positive awareness, education and early detection of breast cancer" (link below). She has always been a very active user of social media and open to answering questions, giving advice and tips about fitness and nutrition freely and without expecting anything in return.
My son and I had the opportunity to meet Jamie in our local 24 Hour Fitness one year, and it just blew my son away. He never forgot it but neither did I. She was the most friendly and down to earth individual. She even came over to me and gave me some fitness advice I never forgot and still incorporate into my shoulder routine to this day!
She has also created a fantastic program called the LiveFit Trainer, which has transformed many lives. It's designed to help people lose fat and build muscle through a 12-week program, complete with workouts, meal plans and other great tips. There are many before and after transformations on the internet, thanks to this amazing program. Jamie has also created delicious recipes that are on the bodybuilding.com site, and trust me, if you have a craving, there are a few treats that will help kick it!
Jamie is also connected with Shields Of Strength, an online store which sells Christian jewlery that has a unique fitness twist. Their mission as stated on their site is "to share the love, hope, forgiveness, and power of God's Word." Jamie has posted give away's of items that represent what they are trying to protray, and I will add that they represent well. Their site is (had to include that one right up here) www.shieldsofstrength.com, you won't be disappointed.
Family Life
Fast forward to now, and you will still find Jamie interacting on social media, but with the addition of her sweet boys, August and Beau. She has jumped full force into motherhood and ensured that God and family are put first, as should be. That makes me look up to her even more. She is now on another adventure, one that she has taken on before, after the birth of her first son, called Diet Bet. This is starting very soon (if it hasn't already started), and she is including her post pregnancy plan into it! This plan is for anyone, not just those who have had a baby; but also beginners and long time gym goers looking to jump back into getting in shape, this is supposed to be pretty intense. I look forward to seeing all the transformations, so please be sure to share them along with links back to your sites below! That way others can see your before and afters, as well as this being a great way to help each other to grow in the social community.
On a final note, I look forward to seeing more of Jamie and the adventures of her little ones growing. I enjoy seeing the various endeavours she partakes in that inspire myself and others to keep motivated and kicking it hard in the gym. I will say it again, my fitness routine in the gym, would not be the same without role models like Jamie on the "fitness scene" so to speak. It has been a great pleasure in learning for me, and my mental dreamboard consisted of reaching goals to better myself and also push myself harder because of it.
It's not to say that we should strive to look exactly like someone else, because we are all very unique and beautiful because of that. It's to give credit where credit is due and I am thankful there are others to help guide us so that we can reach our goals maybe just that much easier! Please check back, I will have another blog up soon, another fitness role model.
Please share your thoughts and maybe how Jamie helped you along the way, either in person or because like me, you came across her through social media. Thank you for reading!
