Have you ever made a mistake so huge you wish you could have a "do-over"? Turn back the hands of time and NOT repeat the same mistake? Or take back something you said, or did? Undo the pain & hurt you caused because of YOUR very actions?
THEN BOOM - time passes and WOW, you repeat the VERY mistake you made that already caused pain, hurt and anger. THEN BOOM - you do it again. Shame on 'you' the first time around right? THEN shame on ME, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th.....time around. Can I ever undo my mistakes? NO!!!!!! So those mistakes that caused such hurt to others, also hurt me. I think that I can erase the pain with time, but the pain never goes away. It lingers...maybe it's forgiven...but it is NEVER forgotten. Our sub-conscience hangs onto it like a water does to a sponge.
Is there anything I can do to fix what is broken? Not sure....what was it that Paul was referring to when he said, "For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." What sin so easily took over Paul that he did what he HATED to do? What sin?
I think it was left open because each of us as humans have something we either fall prey to, or have done or will do that we will have either HATED or HATE. My prayer for each of you is this - that you forgive yourself the trespass you committed against yourself, your loved one, some acquaintance, even your enemy. If they do not forgive, leave it to God after you have said your heartfelt apologies. I pray you know God forgives you.
God bless.........
Romans 7:15-20New International Version (NIV)
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.a]">[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
